US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet in Alaska next Friday To discuss the future of war in Ukraine.
Trump announced a meeting of August 15 on social media and was later confirmed by a Kremlin spokesman who said that the location was “quite logical”, which was Alaska’s close proximity to Russia.
The spokesperson said Trump was invited to Russia for a possible second summit.
There was no immediate response to Ukraine.
The announcement of the meeting came only a few hours after Trump was indicated, Ukraine may have to end the area to end the war, which began in February 2022 with a full -scale invasion of Russia’s neighbor.
Trump said at the White House on Friday, “You are looking at an area that has been fought for three and a half years, a lot of Russians have died. A lot of Ukrainians have died.”
“This is very complex. We are going to get some back, we are going to switch something. For the betterment of both, the states will have some swapping.”
The US President did not give any further details of what this proposal would look like.
However, BBC American partner CBS NewsCiting sources familiar with the discussions, reports that the White House is trying to accept European leaders an agreement that will include Russia to include the entire Donbas region in eastern Ukraine and keep Crimea.
This will release Kherson and Zaporizhajia regions, partially occupying as part of the proposed agreement, CBS reports.
Earlier on Friday, The Wall Street Journal reported that Putin had proposed a similar arrangement to Trump’s envoy Steve Vitkofy during a recent meeting in Moscow.
It is unclear that Ukraine and European allies will agree to such a deal, given that Ukrainian President Volodimier Zelanski and Putin are different on conditions for peace.
Zelansky has rejected any pre -condition for regional concessions,
A senior White House official told the CBS that the plan for the next Friday meeting was still liquid, and it was still possible that Zelansky would be involved in some capacity.
Moscow has failed to achieve a decisive success in its full scale invasion, but live in about 20% of Ukraine. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian offensives have not pushed the Russian forces behind.
Three rounds of direct interaction between Ukraine and Russia in Istanbul have failed to end the war, and for peace, Moscow’s military and political prior conditions are seen as a real capitulation of Ukraine by Kava and his colleagues.
In Russian demands, Ukraine became a neutral state, dramatically reducing its army and giving up its NATO aspirations, as well as lifting the Western sanctions imposed on Russia.
Moscow also wants Kiev to withdraw its army from four regions, which Russia partially lives in the southeast Ukraine, and represents its soldiers.
Trump, however, insisted on Friday, stating that the US had a “one shot” on a tripartite peace agreement among countries.
He said, “European leaders want to see peace, President Putin, I believe the peace wants to see, and the Zelanceci wants to see peace,” he told reporters.
Trump said, “President Zelancesi will have to get everything he needs, as he has to be ready to sign something and I think he is working hard to do so,” said Trump.

Trump and Putin spoke by phone in February in a direct exchange between the leaders of the two countries since the full-scale invasion of Russia in February.
The last time an US President met Putin, in 2021, when Joe Biden met the Russian President at a summit in Geneva, Switzerland.
