Parents of RG Medical College rape victim CBI Director Praveen Sood on Thursday (August 7, 2025) to express his dissatisfaction in the agency investigation Rape and his daughter murderedOfficials said.

He said that the parents, who reached the agency headquarters in the afternoon, received the hearing of a patient from Mr. Sood, who assured the convict “all assistance” to bring justice.
This is the second meeting that Sood is with him. It lasted for half an hour.
The 26-year-old trainee was raped and murdered at the Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata in the seminar hall of the Test Medicine Department with a post-graduate doctor, where she was on her night shift duty on 9 August last year.
The crime provoked mass protests by doctors and medical students across the country.
The CBI investigation gave birth to Civic Volunteer Sanjay Roy, who was assigned life imprisonment in January. The CBI has challenged the decision to demand a death sentence for Roy in the Calcutta High Court.

Parents, however, were convinced that Roy did not work alone and there could be a cover of the incident.
The victim’s mother said on Sunday, “From the first day, we have said that she was a strong girl. Only one man could not do this inside such a safe building. All the early cover-ups indicate to a large Nexus,” the victim’s mother said on Sunday.
His father alleged that efforts were made to destroy the evidence.
He said, “There were three bodies in the crematorium that day. Yet our daughter’s body was first cremated. Why soon?
Parents also plan to meet senior leaders including Home Minister Amit Shah.
To mark the first anniversary of the tragic event, two public programs have been set in Kolkata, in which the protesters are expected to march in the Kalighat region, where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee lives.
A platform formed in view of the incident, ‘Abhay Manch’, will inspect the Raksha Bandhan on that day. On August 14, it is planning to ‘start again at night’ in Kolkata and from 9 pm to midnight.
Roy was assigned a life period in Sealdah, Anirban Das by Additional District and Sessions Judge. The court had ordered Roy to pay a fine of ₹ 50,000 and directed the state government to pay the compensation of 17 lakhs to the family of the deceased.
Judge Das said that the crime did not come under the “rare rare” category, which justified the decision not to punish the convict.
Roy, a former civilian volunteer with Kolkata Police, was found guilty under Section 64 (rape), 66 (sentence due to death), and 103 (1) (murder) of the Indian judge Sanhita (BNS).
The CBI challenged the order that the case is actually a rare rare incident, in which the death sentence would be a suitable punishment for Roy.
