United Airlines passengers delayed Tech Glich Halts in US after flights

The United Airlines passengers in the US have faced a delay after temporarily stopping flights at major airports on “technology issues”.

A ground stop was released from the departure airports for the company’s mainline flights, leading to issues on airports including Chicago, Denver, Houston, San Francisco and New Jersey.

The firm on Wednesday at around 22:00 EDT (02:00 GMT on Thursday) said that the flights were no longer on the ground, but the disruption was going on.

“The issue of underlying technology has been resolved, and, while we expect residual delays, our team is working to restore our general operations,” read in the airline’s statement at that time.

According to the flight tracking site flightware, over 700 joint flights were delayed as 21:00 EDT (02:00 BST).

Already air flights during the ground stop were able to continue their destinations.

Regional flights were not affected, but United warned that the ground stop could delay them due to traffic jams.

A passenger, Jessica Jeffers, told CNN that she was trapped in an aircraft in Denver for two hours, waiting to go to Newark, New Jersey.

“It’s very fat here,” he said.

Other passengers complained about being trapped on Termac for hours on social media as they were waiting for the news.

BBC’s US Partner Network, CBS News reported that the airline was considering the incident as a stopable delay, which means it would cover some expenses incurred by the passengers.

Transport Secretary Sean Dafi said he was informed by United, and the issue was “unrelated to the widespread air traffic control system” in the US.
