Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has once again accused the BJP -led Central Government of obstructing his government’s efforts to implement 42% reservation for backward classes (BCS). He said that President Draupadi Murmu had so far not accepted his request to meet him for taking approval for the pending BC bills with him for four months, as Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently met him.
Addressing the media in New Delhi on Thursday (August 07), Mr. Reddy said that his government and the party will soon decide more about BC reservation in local bodies after holding a meeting of the Committee on Political Affairs (PAC).

The Chief Minister of Telangana addressed a Revantha Reddy in New Delhi on Thursday (August 07, 2025).
BC bills slammed the BJP to protest the BC reservation on the pretext of 10% reservation for Muslims, he said: “It is ridiculous on behalf of BJP leaders saying that they are opposing the bill as they are proposed for 42% of the proposals. The state government is ready to hold an official meeting in the secretariat, and the Union Minister can participate to know the materials of the BC and Social Justice and Social Justice and Strong Bills.
Mr. Reddy expressed disappointment that the President has not been appointed despite repeated requests. He accused the BJP of conspiring to trample BCS’s rights and criticized the party for his efforts to obstruct BC reservation.
The Chief Minister also targeted the BRS, accused him of trying to join hands with the BJP to harm the Congress. He questioned why BRS did not participate in Dharn in Delhi and why they are not questioning the BJP for the failure of the President’s approval for the bills.
Mr. Reddy warned that if the BC bills and ordinances are not passed immediately, it will be clear that the BJP is ‘against backward classes’, stating that the ordinance is also waiting for the President’s assurance to remove 50% cap on reservation under the Telangana Panchayat Raj Act.
