UTTAM meets the Agriculture Secretary of the Philippines on paddy exports

Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Wednesday in New Delhi, Agriculture Secretary of the Philippines Francisco P. Tyu met Laurel Junior, and later positively responded to the state’s proposal to export the country’s paddy.

The first batch of 12,000 metric tons (MT) of rice from Telangana was exported to the Philippines in March this year.

Mr. Reddy assured full cooperation and commitment in strengthening and expanding trade relations between Telangana and the Philippines.

Mr. Laurel Jr. said that the total requirement of Philippine rice and paddy could be about 2 million metric tonnes next year. He also questioned TG about the possibility of importing maize.

Mr. Reddy gave an invitation to Mr. Laurel Junior to visit Telangana later this year, which was accepted. Civil Supplies Commissioner DS Chauhan suggested the variety of gold (RNR 15048) of the state for export.
