A rain holiday declared by the District Collector on Wednesday (August 6, 2025) in Kodali in Thrissur district of Kerala stopped a possible accident in the initial hours after the roof of a government school hall.
The gypsum board sealing of the main hall at Kodali government’s Lower Primary School suddenly fell. Officials said the school was not reported due to rain leave.

Parents and residents who staged a protest in the school premises stated that the hall was used regularly for morning assembly and daily activities.
A parent said, “Teachers used to sit in this hall before sending classes to classes. If there was no holiday today and it happened during school hours, the results must have been unimaginable,” a parent said.
Protest
Local Congress and BJP workers also organized demonstrations, alleging that “mass corruption and unscientific construction” declined.
He blocked the officials of the construction firm, who built the hall two years ago using the MLA fund.
“What would happen if there was no holiday?” A guard asked a television channel talking.
