In an alleged case of caste murder, a 25 -year -old man was shot dead by his father -in -law at Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMC) in Bihar on Wednesday (6 August 2025).

Rahul Kumar (25), a nursing student of the second year of DMCH, was shot dead on Tuesday (August 5) by his father-in-law Prem Shankar Jha on a point-tank border.

Soon, Rahul’s classmates caught Jha and threw him so badly that by the time the police reached the spot, he had to be hospitalized. He was later sent to a hospital in Patna as his condition was important, he said.

Rahul, a resident of Supaul, married Jha’s daughter, who used to study at DMCH in April. Police said that Jha was against inter-caste marriage, and it could be the cause of murder.

His body was sent for the post -mortem examination, and an investigation is going on, he said.

After the incident, nursing students blocked the main gate of the hospital’s emergency room, disrupting medical services.

Police said they used “light force” to control the situation.

A large number of security personnel have been deployed in the hospital, an official said that the situation is now under control.
